CONGRATULATIONS, Malala & Kailash!

Two years ago and one day ago Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan was wantonly
shot in the head by a gunman of the Pakistani
Taliban. Today, she has been honored by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
She’s sharing the 2014 peace prize with Indian … Kailash Satyarthi.

Irony abounds here. Malala’s world-widely famous at seventeen. Kailash, at sixty,
is less renowned. Kailash is an Indian Hindu. Malala is a Muslim, Pakistani.
Geographically speaking India and Pakistan are neighboring countries;
that notwithstanding, they are less than neighborly … politically.

That being the case, perhaps the most hopeful harbingers of global solidarity
to arise from today’s prize announcements are the invitations, timely,
by prize winners Malala and Kailash to the political leaders of their countries;
to join them on the podium when they receive their Nobels … from the Committee.

What a difference a mere week, can make! The virulent Ebola virus, in nonfiction,

surreal, competes with al-Bagdadi … its counterpart … human.

infects some and distracts more, making of Abu Bakr … a happy man.

What a difference a mere week, can make! Ebola buys time for al-Baghdadi,
to massacre … indiscriminately … the Kurds … at Kobani.

More importantly … what a difference mere moments … can make! Turkey
has … just today … joined the allied coalition … against al-Baghdadi.

Wise Willy … on Love

“If you love and get hurt, love more.
If you love more and hurt more, love even more.
If you love even more and get hurt even more, love some more
until it hurts no more …”

Harder to write and to read than prose, but poetry
expresses far more elegantly, passionately
and emotively than one may ever, hopefully,
aspire to … prosaically.

A form of written expression … so seemingly … like lyrical hymn,
has been … historically … so seemingly … favored by Him.
To wit, the superlative verse of the great poets, amongst them,
Ovid, Emily, Robert … and the immortal … William.

Shakespeare’s reputation, amongst thoughtful (wo)men
is amongst … the best … of the west.
It is complemented by the east’s, Khalil Gibran;
between them; amongst the best … of the best.

And so it has been that inspired by Him, Willy,
Khalil, Ovid, Robert and Emily, et. al., when expressively
needing to deliver a passionate message … dramatically,
authors know; there’s no better way … than poetically.

Accordingly, “If you love more and hurt more, love even more.
If you love even more and get hurt even more,
love some more
until it hurts no more …”
