MAYDAY 1559: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2019

“The Kurds and Turkey have been fighting for many years,” tweeted Don on Sunday. Feeling abandoned by US in Syria, the Kurds find new allies

in old American foes — in Assad’s Syrians — and Vladimir’s, Russians. And no one wants President Don, for an ally.

Facing backlashes at home and abroad Don’s defended his decision to withdraw from lines of fire, saying he didn’t support the Turkish

offensive. On Sunday, he also said, the US Treasury had further sanctions ready, to impose, on Turkey — and — the Turkish.

Don’s abandonment of the Kurds has been remarkable. For five years, the US mission in Syria has been to destroy ISIS. The Kurds lost 11,000 fighters,

doing so. Our losses — eight. Upon the mission’s completion, Don and the Turks, winked … at one another.

“President Trump doesn’t seem to have opposed the operation the Turks are carrying out today, even though much firmer positions are being

asserted today,” French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said, last week. To the Turks, the Kurds, Don, is damning.
